Recap: 24th Annual Woodstock Film Festival

photos by niki@hvny.info

From Wednesday to Sunday, I saw more new films than I have seen all year. I went to the Bearsville Theater, to the Woodstock Playhouse, to the Orpheum Theatre in a day. Not only that – I saw World Premieres (Down By the Riverside the story of Clearwater, the boat Pete Seeger created to help bring awareness to the health of the Hudson River, led by a performance by Linda Richards, who first met Seeger as a child); US Premieres (Uma Thurman starring in The Kill Room, opposite her real-life daughter Maya Hawke and Samuel L. Jackson. The undeniably magnetic Rachel Sennot as a rightfully jaded stand-up comic in “I Used to Be Funny.” And even a surprise screening of the US Premiere of “Ex-Husbands” starring Griffin Dunne, on screen and in-person for a Q+A after the screening.

All this was for the 24th annual Woodstock Festival, that ran from Wednesday, September 27 through Sunday, October 1, 2023. Check the HVNY Instagram for more photos + videos.
